COB (chip-on-board) lighting packs many small LED chips onto a single board, producing a wide, even flood of light rather than a single focused beam. On the Kickstand-R Mini, the COB panel is best for lighting up a whole work area - like the inside of an engine bay or a dark room - while the separate LED light throws a more focused beam for tasks that need distance or direction.
