COB (chip-on-board) is a type of LED construction where many small LED chips are mounted directly onto one circuit board. Together they produce a single, evenly lit surface. A traditional LED uses one packaged chip behind a reflector, which focuses light into a tighter beam that reaches farther. COB light is wider and more uniform, with fewer shadows and hotspots, but it doesn’t throw as far. The Ryder 350 combines both: the LED beam lights the trail ahead, and the COB flood evenly lights close-range tasks like setting up camp, field dressing game, or working on a repair.

Yes. The Ryder 350’s red night vision mode gives off dim red light that helps preserve your eyes’ adjustment to darkness, so you can read a map, check gear, or move to your stand without losing night vision. Red light is also less noticeable at a distance than bright white light. The headlamp also has a red strobe mode for signaling.

The Ryder 350 headlamp runs on 3 AAA alkaline batteries, and a set of Police Security premium alkaline batteries is included. AAA batteries are easy to find and simple to swap in the field, which makes the Ryder 350 practical for trips where recharging isn’t an option.

The Ryder 350 headlamp is water resistant, not waterproof. It’s built to handle wet outdoor conditions, but it should not be submerged. It is also drop tested to 1 meter for everyday knocks and drops.
