The Shield from Police Security Knives™ is a folding rescue knife built for vehicle emergencies and everyday carry. A built-in seatbelt cutter slices through a jammed belt, and a glass breaker shatters a tempered side window, so you can get yourself or a passenger out quickly. Its tanto blade, made from 3Cr13 stainless steel, handles everyday cutting tasks like opening packages and cutting cord.

You can open the Shield one-handed from either side with the dual thumb studs, or use the flipper tab for faster deployment. A liner lock holds the blade securely open, and jimping on the spine gives your thumb a firm, controlled position while you cut.

The aluminum handle is lightweight and balanced, with a solid grip. At 20.5cm long when open, the Shield gives you a full-size grip and still folds down small enough for a glove box, center console, or pocket. The pocket clip keeps it within reach.

How do you use the seatbelt cutter on the Shield knife?

Hook the Shield’s seatbelt cutter over the belt and pull it firmly across the strap. The cutting edge sits in a recessed notch, so it slices the belt without exposing your hands to the main blade.

How does the glass breaker on the Shield work?

Strike a lower corner of a side or rear window firmly with the Shield’s glass breaker. Most side and rear windows are made of tempered glass, which shatters into small pieces when hit at a single point. Windshields and some newer side windows use laminated glass, which cracks but won’t shatter. Check your vehicle’s windows ahead of time so you know which ones you can break.

Why does the Shield have a tanto blade?

The Shield’s tanto blade has an angled tip with extra steel behind the point, which makes it stronger than a curved tip when piercing tough materials. The long straight edge gives you controlled, even cuts through cord, straps, and packaging.

How do you open and close the Shield knife?

Open the Shield with your right or left hand by pushing either thumb stud, or by pulling back on the flipper tab. The liner lock engages automatically once the blade is fully open. To close it, press the liner lock toward the handle until it clears the blade, then fold the blade shut, keeping your fingers out of its path.

Where should I keep the Shield in my car?

Keep the Shield where you can reach it while buckled in, such as the center console, a door pocket, or clipped to your clothing. A glove box works for storage, but it may be hard to reach after a collision. Knife carry laws vary by state and city, so check your local rules before you carry it.
