Runtime depends on the mode you choose. On High at 1500 lumens, expect about 13 hours. Medium (647 lumens) runs about 24 hours, Low (134 lumens) about 70 hours, and Eco (30 lumens) up to 100 hours. Most campers leave it on Low or Eco overnight and save High for setup and teardown.

The power bank draws from the same 4 D batteries that run the light, so charging a device will shorten how long the lantern lasts. In a prolonged outage, run the light on Eco or Low between uses to preserve capacity for charging and use your other devices sparingly to reduce the need for recharging. We also recommend keeping one or two spare sets of D batteries in your kit as inexpensive insurance. They don't cost much and they don't lose charge over a long period of time, often rated for 10 years of shelf-life or more.

Yes. The 360° panel puts light out in every direction rather than aiming it one way, so a single lantern in the center of a room, tent, or picnic table covers the whole space without dark corners. At 1500 lumens it handles a two-car garage or a campsite dining area on its own; most handheld camping lanterns land between 300 and 600 lumens. The lower modes exist because full output is usually more than you need for a card game or a walk to the cooler and it's nice to be able to use a lower output to reduce eye strain and get a longer runtime.

The lantern is designed for and ships with 4 D-cell alkaline batteries, which is what we recommend for emergency and storage use since they hold their charge far longer on the shelf. If you use it frequently for camping, rechargeable D-cells can be a reasonable alternative, though runtimes may differ from the published figures.
